Saluti di prestigiosi colleghi stranieri

My dear colleagues and friends of physical therapy in Italy:
Please accept my sincerest congratulations on the founding of the Italian Society of Physiotherapy. Future generations of patients and scientists will mark May 29, 2010 as a critical date in the evolution of physiotherapy science in Italy that assured the continued contributions of Italian scientists to the evidence-base for physiotherapist practice. For many years, the American Physical Therapy Association has promoted the development of scientists through funding for research and the incorporation of research findings into clinical practice. I applaud the specific mission of the Society to stimulate the development of scientific knowledge and to enhance the promotion and dissemination of the research evidence that supports practice.
Furthermore, through the many interdisciplinary collaborations which are certain to follow, the medical community, university scientists and health authorities will further understand the great contribution of the physical therapy profession to the health and function of the Italian people.
I look forward to learning about your many achievements in the years to come, and hope that you will consider sharing them with us as international members of the American Physical Therapy Association, which will also open the tools and resources for evidenced-based practice that we have developed to Italian physiotherapists.
I wish you every success in your endeavors. Congratulazioni e auguri!

R. Scott Ward. PT, PhD
President

Congratulations for this remarkable accomplishment. The formation of the Societa Italiana Fisioterapia is a wonderful beginning to what I hope will be a sustainable and distinguished history of scientific accomplishment and international contribution to the collective body of knowledge that will continue to improve the services we provide our patients and the evidence underlying such new and exciting explorations.
May you and your colleagues have many exciting and enlightening meetings.
Looking forward to our next gathering and wishing you all well until then.....

All the best......

The formation of the  “Società Italiana Fisioterapia (S.I.F.)” is a very exciting development for you and your colleagues in Italy. It is my hope that this will be the catalyst for very important progress in the development of the scientific basis for physical therapy in Italy and, of course, across the world. It has been a pleasure to be a small part of this development and I wish you all well in your continued growth in the profession. I hope to see you all soon at scientific meetings in Italy, the US and around the world!

My very best to all of you and congratulations!

Congratulations to you and your esteemed colleagues. Establishing the Società Italiana Fisioterapia (S.I.F.) is a significant step forward in nurturing a research culture. When I attended the Societa Scientifica Italiana Fisioterapia e Riabilitazione in March 2007 in Rome, I saw the passion among the Italian physiotherapists who were focused on changingdramatically the role of our profession in both the clinical and scientific communities in Italy. It is remarkable that you have made so much progress in what appears a very short time! As I told you when we were together in Rome, please encourage your budding scientists to submit their research articles and case reports to Physical Therapy. I am so very pleased to have had a small part in this significant step in your vision.

Sincerely,
Rebecca L Craik, PT, PhD, FAPTA
Editor in Chief, Physical Therapy
Professor and Chair

We are delighted with the news of this momentous accomplishment. I remember well the excitement generated at the International Congress in Giardini Naxos, Sicily in October of 2008. The formation of the first Italian Scientific Society, the Societa Italiana Fisioterapia is the beginning of many successful scientific contributions to the international community of scientists, clinicians and the patients we
serve.

Let me be one of the first to welcome you and your colleagues to the international Scientific Community of Academic Physical Therapy. May you and your colleagues have an exciting inaugural meeting on May 29th.  I look forward to the future and our continued collaboration.

All the best,
